🥋August Aikido Classes in Kyoto

Obon is a Japanese Buddhist tradition in mid-August to honor the spirits of ancestors. Families visit graves and light lanterns to welcome and send off the spirits. It is also a time for reflection. In Aikido, many dojos take a short break during Obon, using the time to rest, reconnect with family, and return to training with a fresh spirit.

✅ Please check our calendar for the August training schedule in Kyoto.

There will be no training on August 11 (Mon), 14 (Thu), and 16 (Sat) due to the Obon holidays. In addition, on August 23 (Sat) and 24 (Sun), training will be held at Nara City Central Budokan due to the Osaka Aikikai Summer Camp.
Aside from these dates, regular training will be held every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at Kyoto Budo Center under the instruction of our shihans.

Visitors and trial lessons are always welcome. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested.
